Community Connections
"The Word of God became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood."                            - John 1:14 (the Message)
We believe that God calls us to be an active part of our community, reaching out in the most practical ways we can find.  We work hard to be active and involved...

Our Neighborhood Watch meets in our Old A&M store-front building the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Our church is very active at West Side Elementary, the school that serves our neighborhood.  Currently, a brand new school building is under construction, and it should be completed in March of 2011.  Until then, the school is on two sites.  Preschool through 2nd grade is housed at the former Chandler Elementary, and 3rd through 5th grade is housed at the former Glenwood Elementary.  Mrs. Debbie teaches there, and we are often asked to assist with various activites and special events at both sites.  From providing backpacks for all 400 students, to listening to children read, to serving sno-cones on hot summer afternoons (it's a year-round school), to providing a place for faculty events, we love showing God's love to students and staff!  Click on the pictures for more info about West Side Elementary.
